Yes, significantly. GIF stores each frame individually and is limited to 256 colors, so files are typically 5-10x larger than the MP4 source. Keep clips short (under 10 seconds) for reasonable file sizes.
We recommend clips under 15 seconds. Longer videos produce very large GIF files. A 10-second clip at 15 FPS produces a GIF of approximately 5-15MB.
GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame, while MP4 supports millions. The converter automatically selects the best 256-color palette for each frame, but some color banding may be visible in gradients.
Yes. Lower frame rates produce smaller files. 10-15 FPS is usually sufficient for most GIF animations. The original MP4 may be 30 or 60 FPS, so reducing frames significantly cuts file size.
